Maths Week Ireland

25th Oct 2017

Primary 6 enjoyed taking part in a 'Financial Capability' event for Maths Week. They applied their maths skills in many practical contexts.

The children enjoyed measuring the ingredients to bake buns. They then applied their number skills to work out how much profit we made by selling the buns for 50p. As a challenge we asked the children to work out the profit for selling the buns at greater amounts. They also used their measure and shape knowledge to create bunting in the shape of an isosceles triangle. Some of the children also had to take the money and give change and count all the money at the end of the sale.
